Simeon Isaac Battiste

Battiste, Simeon I., Louisville, Ky., Louisville National Medical College, 1898; Birth: October 11, 1860, in Jamaica, BWI; Death: December 4, 1920.
Hafner, Directory of Deceased American Physicians, 1804-1929.
1860
I have - so far - not been able to find any record of Simeon Battiste's birth or baptism in Jamaica in 1860. However there are records indicating he had a son, born in 1880.
Picture
Battiste is not recorded as the father, but he was present at the birth of the boy, Bartholomew, who was given the surname 'Battiste'.
Picture
On the record of his marriage in 1904, Bartholomew gives the name of his father as 'Simeon Isaac Battiste'.
1889

I have received this information from Apothecaries Hall, in London, England:
Picture
Apothecaries Hall, 1831
Simeon Isaac Battiste qualified from Apothecaries Hall, Black Friars Lane, London, as an Assistant to an Apothecary on June 24th 1889. This was a certificate in Qualification in Compounding and Dispensing medicines. He is listed as living at 8 Christmas-street Bristol.

The Apothecaries Act of 1815 made it compulsory for those intending to qualify as Apothecaries Assistants to take an examination testing their ability to translate part of the Pharmacopoeia Londinensis, physicians’ prescriptions their knowledge of pharmacy and material medica. If successful the candidate obtained a certificate. By 1888 there were seventy seven candidates.
