On Hay's plan of Kingston, which dates from about 1745, there is a house indicated on the lots on North Street, between East Street and George's Lane, which perhaps indicates an earlier building which John Bull extended when he constructed what was to be known as Bull's House or Bull House for over a century and a half.

. . . and who was John Bull?
Daily Gleaner, May 14, 1956
Shortly we ride past the ruins of Sheldon Great House, whose old stone chimney stands guard near the grave of John Bull, that famous 18th century owner of Sheldon Coffee property, who vied with Jasper Hall, Thomas Hibbert and another whose name I do not know, about 1756, as to who should build the largest house. Hibbert's House, the present Headquarters House in Duke Street, is the only one standing today. John Bull's house was destroyed by fire. Near his grave is a disused copper mine.

. . . . the advertisement on Saturday 11th had promised Patrizio's very last performance in Kingston that evening, but apparently the demand for the seats at the Theatre Royal was so great that hurried arrangements had to be made for the Matinee at Bull's House Lawn, before the magician rushed off to Spanish Town for the performance there on Tuesday, 14th.

Peter Blaise Desnoes
In 1882 the Jamaica Handbook listed him as Consul for the Republic of Costa Rica and also as a local Magistrate. Peter Blaise Desnoes bought Bull House on North Street, altered it considerably and made it his home. It was there that he died in 1901. Bull House had been erected in the 18th century by another wealthy Kingston Merchant named John Bull. It was destroyed by fire in September (or August) 1917.
