Rev Dr Hugh Croskery
Clarendon's History

'It is curious that the best-known doctor in Clarendon in this period later became a priest as well. This was Hugh Croskery, an Irish Naval surgeon who became Medical Officer at Chapelton in 1857, by which time Jamaica was waking up to the need for some sort of effective medical service. He married the daughter of the Rector of Chapelton, and a little later than our period took holy orders, helping his father-in-law in the first place - ultimately he went to Guyana and died there, though his dependants remained in Jamaica.'
